Description

The CITMO initiative started in 2002 as an informal and non-profit collaborative effort among government, military, and industry participants to discuss the role that commercial technology and systems could play in multinational military operations. The initiative includes strong participation from a number of European and US organizations.

The first CITMO workshop was held in Ostersund Sweden in 2002, and the second was held in Ronneby Sweden in 2003. CITMO 2004 will be held in Sofia Bulgaria in May 2004. The event is hosted by the Bulgarian government under the auspices of the Ministry of Defense and is endorsed also by the Ministry Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economy.

The US Office of Naval Research, Global and the US Army Research Development Standardization Group provide funding to support this initiative and are on the organizing committee.

CITMO 2004 will be structured as a two day conference with relatively large attendance, followed by a one-day break for visits to Bulgarian civil, military, and cultural sites. The second part of consists of a one-day workshop for a smaller set of invited participants, followed by a half-day plenary session where recommended action will be defined.
